Gram Vikas (The Rural Development B Plan Context)

As is rightly said by many great personalities ‘True India lies in its villages’. But Alas! It is these villages that are a victim of underdevelopment and are a cause of concern.

STEPCONE-10 brings forth   ‘Gram Vikas’, an event which reminds every budding techie about his responsibility as a citizen of India to nurture the growth of its rural cosmopolitan.

So Youngistan, be there at    ‘Gram Vikas’   and churn out your ideas for a better Hindustan.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

ROUND 1:

Each participant has to submit an executive summary of  his/her plan in about 500 to 1000 words as to how he/she is willing to bring  about a revolutionary change in the existing trend  in rural India on or before 30 DEC 2009.

Here are Pictures  of certain vital problems faced by the villagers of Guravam, a village situated around 120 km from Vizag. Some of the issues highlighted include

1. Proper electrification

2. Housing

3. Domestic waste management.

4. Health care

5. Proper sanitation.

6. Transportation

7. Facilities/ Amenities   

Judgement would be based on the following criteria:  

  1. Innovation and Conceptualization of the plan
  2. Application of Engineering Knowledge
  3. Economic and Technological benefits arising form the plan
  4. Impact of the plan on the environment

5.        Improving  efficiency, including improvement through alternative material and processes

6.        Achieving Cost Reduction, including cost reduction through alternative material and      processes

 Sketch out a plan with overview of estimated cost analysis that encompasses all the above issues to bringing definite engineered growth in the village of Guravam. Please make sure your Plan focuses on the development of the village Guravam specifically.  

ROUND 2:

The short listed participants are required to present their plan at the venue by means of an LCD presentation preferably PowerPoint.
